        REMINDER: Lunch balances with 10 negative charges will result in a cheese sandwich and a milk.    

        ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS: All lockers in HS Gym and AC will need to be cleared of items or locks on the lockers before Thursday.  If you leave items in the lockers, we can not guarantee your items will be there when you return on Monday.  I highly suggest you take your items home!!!! They probably need washed anyway - right?!

        STUDENTS: In preparation for John J this week, we need to make sure NO ONE is parking beyond the yellow barriers in the AC parking lot. There will be trailers and dumpsters being placed in that area. Thank you!  

        Freshman Boys Basketball - Monday, Jan 22nd in Creston, bus departure time 5:15pm. 

        FBLA - SLC 1st payment of $80 is due Thur, Jan 25.

        Basketball - bus departure to Lenox next Tuesday, January 23rd @ 3:50pm.

        FFA Greenhand members taking the Greenhand Quiz for contest please come to the ag room to practice during seminar if available.

        Attention Students: Do you want to get into the wrestling tournament this weekend for FREE? Come volunteer to help work a shift of the concessions with the Juniors and you get in that day for free!  What a deal!  See Miss Lumbard to be added to the list of awesome concession workers.

        Boys Track informational meeting: 10-15 minute meeting after school on Wednesday, January 31, in the auditorium for all boys interesting in competing in track this year?  

        Bridges is a state program available through public libraries for the checkout of electronic materials on just about any device. If you read e-books or listen to audio books and would like to know how to get access to this program on your Chromebook or other devices, ask your teacher or stop in the library for directions. All you need is a library card, download the Overdrive app and set up an account and you're ready to go!

        On Jan 24th please dismiss Seniors to take a class photograph at 3:00 pm. Seniors, please wear SWV gear or the College gear you plan to attend next year. Be ready to go in your gear at Sally's Alley at 3:15.

        Y-teens --PTO would like your help with Book Fair. It would be on  Feb 8th, 3-7 and Feb 12th, 4-8. There will be two 2-hour shifts each day. They need only two volunteers for each shift. If you are interested, the sign-up sheet is on our Y-teens board. Remember they are counting on you showing up. If you cannot fulfill your commitment you need to find a replacement. 

        Attention students: We will have musical auditions for the spring musical "Annie" from 3:45- 5:30 pm Tuesday and Thursday, and 3:30-5:00 pm on Wednesday in the Vocal room.  Please make arrangements with Miss Docker to audition if those times will not work for you.  If you want a small line or just to sing in the chorus, there will be a sign up sheet in the chorus room, no need to audition.  There will also be a sign up sheet for stage crew and lights.  The musical will take place on March 9th and 10th.   

        Attention Choir Members and Families: Music Booster Fundraiser - John J Wrestling Tournament Slushy Selling  Sopranos and Basses: Bring two jugs of Polar Blast Hawaiian Punch (Blue) Tenors: Bring two packages of straws Altos: Bring two packages of 16 oz styrofoam cups. Please have all supplies to Miss Docker by Thursday, Jan 18

        Could I have the following students stop in the office please: Teagan Lundquist, Joslyn Moore, Jace Petersen, Kolton Schutt,  Jacey Smith, Shane Stalker & Cole Swenson. 

        SWCC second semester starts on JANUARY 16TH.  All classes start on that date. So, the first day of Statistics will be Wednesday, January 17th.

        Juniors: Sign up for John J concessions is now available in Miss Lumbard's room.  Each Junior is required to contribute in some fashion as either you or someone you designate must work one shift.  Bryson, Teagan, and Maddie you have an alternate contribution as you will be in the competition, please come visit with Miss Lumbard.  Speech kids please sign up for Friday or have another volunteer ready to work for you on Saturday.

        FBLA - Deadline to turn in Little Caesar orders is Wed, January 17.

        FFA members: those signed up for contest need to be coming in during seminars or before/after school for practices. 

        Next FFA meeting is on January 18th during seminar.

        Cross Country: Missing Uniforms - Sam Hummel. These need to be turned in to Coach Sussman ASAP. 

        FCCLA Members:  District STAR Events is approaching fast in fact less than a month away.  WHAT I haven't started????  Its not to late.  February 1st is District STAR Events.  Come see Mrs.Konecne if you have questions & to get started!

        SENIORS: UNI Scholarship Application deadline is approaching for students who are intending to matriculate at UNI. If you are interested in applying for the common application that puts your information out to 900+ scholarships on campus you only have until January 15th, 2018 to complete and submit their application. Here is the link to the application portal : UNI SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION 

        College Raptor’s $2,500 Scholarship has a January 31, 2018 deadline. Share this link with students you know are needing financial assistance for their education.  Check the website.

        FREE TUITION at Mount Mercy College:  Catherine McAuley Scholarship. Find this information on the scholarship tab of the SWV Counselor website. (or see Mrs. Meyers)

        Library: You may check out books even if Mrs. Goldsmith, Mrs. Longabaugh and Mrs. Stewart are absent. However there is a procedure! 

        The procedure is:

         1. Find one of two clip boards at the check out desk.

        2. Sign your name, book title, barcode number, author, and date.

              It is very important to have your name and correct barcode (located on the back of the book). Thank you for your cooperation! 

        The following students need to turn in your Drivers Education Books:  Jayden Archer 

        ATTENTION STUDENTS: We need to remember that we are Peanut free campus. We have found several wrappers on the floor recently that contain Peanuts. Please be mindful of others. 

        JUNIORS only:  The Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Scholarship (up to $6500) is open for application. SWV school has one Herbert Hoover Uncommon student this year who received thousands of dollars in scholarship. See Mrs. Meyers for more information.  

        Any senior planning on ISU next year (posted by Mrs. Meyers):  The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) at Iowa State University has an online scholarship application called FinAidScholar.  The FinAidScholar application is a single application for all scholarships administered through the OSFA. www.financialaid.iastate.edu (select freshman and then FinAidScholar) 

         ATTENTION STUDENTS -  IF you ride a moped pay close attention: Passengers are not allowed on mopeds. This is a state LAW. You can and may get ticketed.      

         FYI - The DOT has changed driving days for Adams County. The driving days are Tuesday mornings. To schedule driving times please call the courthouse at 641-322-3210. All students getting school permits have to drive with the DOT and live more than 1 mile from the school. You also need 2 forms from the school, a Certificate of Completion and an Affidavit for School Permit.
